Photographing a NYC breakdancer with Nikon Z

Joe McNally on using the Z 6 and Z 7 mirrorless cameras

Performers - The next stop in the Performers Series is the Bronx with this breakdancer.

Nikon Ambassador Joe McNally photographed Kevin Rivera, a New York breakdancer, at home and dancing as he regularly does in a NYC subway station with the Z series mirrorless cameras.

He used the Z 6, designed for high ISO action capture in low-light areas of Kevin’s home as well as on the subway and in the station. In a warehouse at the end of the day with light streaming through the windows, Joe Utilized the Z 7 and its high resolution 45.7MP sensor, set at a lower ISO for portraits showing off the Kevin’s moves—using studio lighting to freeze the action.

For assignments where you’ve got to shoot a variety of images, the Z series mirrorless cameras provide you with the best of what they’re designed for—Z 6 for capturing the low-light moments on the go when you might need to bump up the ISO, and the Z 7 for action packed portraits that need to be shot in high 45.7MP resolution.
